Sorry for the very VERY long updateless interval! Fish is fine - in fact, he's the same as ever, and just as cute! Just look at those chubby legs! He's not getting a whole lot bigger any more. That's a good thing for me, of course! I hope he's healthy, though, and nothing's stunting his growth or anything. Tom says it's normal, though - Reeves get to sexual maturity at about 3-4" (right about Fish's size now) and stop growing as quickly - so I think I'll stop worrying, too. :)
Lately he has been going after my fingers like mad. He'll ignore his food and try to swim through the glass and eat my fingers instead. Rather dangerous, that turtle - I've got to be careful to keep my fingers out of bite-range! No more hand-feeding, I think!! Now I just drop in the Reptomin for him.
Not much else to report on the Fish front at the moment - so a belated Happy New Year, everyone, from Fish and me! :)

Been a LONG time since the last entry! Sorry to keep y'all hanging. To cut a long story short, Fish has been doing well, and I have been extremely busy. Still am, actually. :\
On with the regular content:

I got a cheap kitchen scale yesterday - now I can finally weigh Fish and keep a proper growth record! As of 19 September, his weight was about 70 grams. I put some dry tissue on the scale to absorb vibrations (and to keep him still - I don't know why, but when I wrap Fish in tissue paper, he gets very bewildered and doesn't move much).
I also tried to measure him yesterday, too, but without calipers it's difficult. The best I can say is, his shell is about 7.5 cm long.
Fish is doing well! He's awfully curious, as usual, and looks forward to his feedings. Just last week he yawned in my face - I love it when he yawns!

See the lazy turtle!! He doesn't care if I stroke him while he's basking...on the other hand, once I just blew at him, and he was in the water quicker than you could see. What a silly turtle. (Don't ask why I was blowing him...I don't know why either.)
I uploaded a very short clip of me stroking his shell. Click here to download it (.wmv, about 155kb).
Is Fish too tame? He was the most skittish turtle out of the bunch when I bought him (actually, that was why I bought him...alert is good, right?). He does see me a lot, though, and I hand-feed several times a week. Sometimes I get lazy and just drop the sticks in, but yeah, I do hand-feed. He's very gentle and hasn't bitten me in several months.

Fish basks quite a lot these days! At different periods of the day he will sleep in his cave, try to dislodge the filter, and bask - he's quite a busy turtle. Now he is so used to me that he will let me stroke his shell softly when he's basking, and won't jump. I'm so happy!

After a whole year of Fish-pictures, I wondered if there was a new angle we haven't seen before...and after a bit of thought, here's one of his back. He's in his feeding tank, looking at my foot outside (he'd eaten already, greedy little thing!)
I scrubbed his shell a while ago, so it's nice and clean now!
