This is a special midweek entry!
Fish and I received the prize for the photo contest today! I was very excited to get it (and am behaving like a kid at Christmas...
). Look at the red-eared slider sticker on the envelope - isn't it cute?
(I've blurred out both my and Dana's addresses for privacy...)
Inside was a copy of the March Reptiles magazine. It's got a nice long bit in it about water turtles, too.
Inside the little envelope was a note from Dana and a sticker for Fish. Here's a picture - I got Fish to pose beside it by wiggling my fingers, haha!
Hehe, isn't it funny? Fish, the 7-cm Killer Turtle! In real life, he's only dangerous when your fingers smell of Reptomin... ;)
I'm going to read the magazine now!

What a sleepy turtle! :)
Sorry for the lateish entry this week - I didn't do much work all during the long Easter weekend and forgot about updating, although I did change Fish's water. Sorry about that!
Fish is outside soaking up the rays right now. Well, actually, he's in the shadow of the balcony, but he's getting at least SOME natural sunlight! He hasn't had any for weeks! He also got shrimp to eat today; I give him some twice a week or so.
Recently I've noticed that Fish is shedding a lot more, although it doesn't look like anything to worry about since I only see the skin flakes in the water, and Fish doesn't look flakey or anything. He really is growing bigger!

Yep, it's Fish!! Isn't he cute? Anyway, Dana is sending me a turtle care package as a prize since I can't get Reptiles here in Hong Kong - I can't wait to get it!! :) I'm very excited about all this, as you can tell...hehe! I'll be sure to post up an entry when I get it.
In other news, Fish has been doing very well. Just this night he gave me a nice big poop - to non-reptile keepers, this may sound funny, but believe me it is a good thing! :)

Fish takes a break from begging in the above photo.
Poor turtle, he always seems hungry - but I know better than to feed him as much as he wants!
I've been wanting to raise his water level about two inches but can't figure out what to put under his basking spot that won't take up too much space. I tried a sieve-like thing, but it was much bigger than the basking spot and took up too much room, and looked ugly as well. Guess I'll have to keep looking!
Fish is getting better and better at swimming! He can float a bit now (but starts sinking as soon as he breathes out - haha!!)
