Fishbum

Fish is camera-shy. It always surprises me when he manages to do a full 360 degree rotation to face outwards - the cave looks too small for that, but it isn't! I guess it's just the cave entrance that's small.

I bought a pumpy siphon thing (I don't know how to describe it). I tested it yesterday, and managed to do a 90% water change without breaking my back or pulling any muscles. All I did was sit comfortably on my bed and pump the hand pump. Much better than lugging all that water to the bathroom! Even if I do want to break the tank down (which I won't be doing every week any more, now that I can suck water out), I can empty it first and it'll be much easier for me to carry to the bathroom. I'm very glad I made this purchase!

Hmmm...perhaps after I've done a few water changes with this new hose, I can make a new 'Maintenance' series of photos for the photo gallery!!

let go of me!!!

Fish was being quite uncooperative today, and flailed his legs around wildly as I was trying to measure him (approx. 7.5 cm straight down the shell, not including head or tail) I thought I'd get some pictures of him in my hands as well. I don't usually handle him much, except to put him in and out of his feeding container, so he was probably anxious to get fed, haha!

Oh, and yes, that's me looking mysterious in the background ;)

Typing Fish

Here he is trying to type! He's still a bit too light to actually press down the keys as he walks though, haha!

Green Fish

Quickie entry - I'm sick of studying Chemistry, so here's a little update! :D

See the photo? Fish has grown a bit of algae on his shell. Quite annoying, because most algae in the tank is on Fish or in the filter - precisely where I don't want it! Fish looks quite...ummm...charming with the algae I suppose (haha!) but I think I am going to give him a good rubbing with the toothbrush soon.

Also, at the bottom of the page are now banner-links to my new partner sites - they're all really good turtle info resources! Go visit! :)

Fish's fat bottom

Fish: "Hey!! Don't take photos of my bottom!!"

Fish has been doing very well lately - he's eating, pooing and basking regularly (Although in the eleven months I've had him, there was only one day he refused food! As long as I give him food he'll eat it!)

I think he's almost twice as long as he was last year - not quite, but almost. I'm very proud of him. :) He was shedding an awful lot last week though, so I cut his food to eight Reptomin sticks every other day instead of ten - and the shedding has gone down nicely.

I have more exams to come in the next month, so entries may again be a bit scarce. Right now, Fish is basking under his lamp, while I have to study...I wish I was a turtle!! Haha!
